MOTO stands for mail order and telephone order. It is any transaction where the card is not present at a terminal. Your staff uses a virtual terminal to securely enter information, and the gateway processes, authenticates, and settles the same way it would for any other card transaction.
An MOTO merchant account is set up for mail and telephone payment solutions, where the card is not present. It can facilitate keyed transactions through a secure virtual terminal, leverage AVS and CVV, and is priced and monitored specifically for card-not-present risk. Authorizations, settlements, and reporting are handled the same way as regular processing.
We work with professional services, medical billing (without PHI storage), insurance agencies, home services, catalog and specialty retail, B2B inside sales teams, nonprofits and membership organizations, educational and training establishments, and other teams that utilize telephone payment processing or payments through the mail.
